Attorney James G. Sokolove is principal of Sokolove Law, LLC. A pioneer in the marketing of legal services, Jim has lectured at law schools on ethics and has appeared on numerous television and radio programs to discuss personal injury law and lawyer advertising. He has been recognized by the Boston Business Journal as one of "Greater Boston's 100 Most Influential Business People of the 20th Century" and by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as one of the "Most Influential Attorneys of the Past 25 Years" for his efforts in increasing legal access through advertising.

A graduate of Case Western Reserve University and of the Suffolk University School of Law, Jim worked as a VISTA volunteer community organizer and lawyer in the early seventies.

Throughout his professional career, Jim has maintained a high level of commitment to public service. In 1985, he established the Law Project for Multi-handicapped Children, a two-year pro bono legal program. The Law Project provided free legal assistance and information to families with disabled children throughout Massachusetts and provided training to parents and lay advocates. It received a Presidential Citation for Private Sector Initiatives.

In 1987, Jim began a new project, Cycleline, a public safety and information campaign aimed at motorcyclists. Jim, a long-time proponent of motor vehicle safety, hopes to reduce the number of motorcycle accidents through public education and awareness. For his work with motorcycle safety, Jim received a 1988 Public Service Award from the Central Massachusetts Chapter of the National Safety Council.

Jim also has been active in the fight against teenage drunk driving and auto accidents. In 1989, he was awarded a certificate of merit from Students Against Drunk Driving for his work.

Jim has been awarded an AV rating—the highest given—by Martindale Hubbell - the premier rating guide for attorneys.


 

Michael Skoler

As Chief Executive Officer, Michael J. Skoler is responsible for translating business vision into operational excellence. Mike has directed Sokolove Law's transformation from an established regional marketer of legal services to the largest marketer of legal services in the country.

Mike brings an experienced yet non-traditional view regarding the forces reshaping the 21st Century delivery of legal services. He is a frequent and in-demand speaker in both the legal and business communities.

Prior to joining Sokolove Law, Mike was a founding member and Sr. Director of Arthur Andersen’s Global Corporate Finance Group, the investment banking arm of Arthur Andersen LLP. Prior to Andersen, he was an Associate with Riverside Partners, a leveraged buyout firm headquartered in Boston.

Mike also takes a very active role in corporate and social responsibility initiatives including the company's participation in Habitat For Humanity and the Linus Foundation. His personal charitable work extends to several community charities and to a mentoring program for undergraduates.

Mike earned his MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and holds a BSBA in Finance and Law from American University in Washington DC. He is qualified as a General Securities Representative.

 

 


Robert Bunn

Rob Bunn joined Sokolove Law as its Chief Financial Officer in May, 2008 after consulting for the company for the previous four years. Rob oversees the company's finance, accounting and information technology functions. He also plays a central role in developing and evaluating strategic direction and capital market activities.

While consulting for Sokolove Law, Rob was a founder and principal at White Oak Partners LLC, a management consultancy that provides financial and strategic consulting service to early stage and middle market growth companies. Prior to founding White Oak Partners, Rob served as Vice President - Finance and Operations at Create!form International Inc., a document output management software company with offices in the US, UK and Australia. Rob's tenure at Create!form ended in September 2003, when Create!form was successfully sold to Bottomline Technologies (de) Inc.

Prior to joining Create!form, Rob was an associate with Andersen Capital Markets LLC, and led an acquisition team for Ferguson Enterprises, one of the world's largest wholesale distributors of building supplies.

Rob is a Chartered Financial Analyst and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society. He has a BS in finance and economics from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and a MDiv. with high honors from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

 

 


Anders Ekman

As Chief Marketing Officer, Anders Ekman brings nearly 20 years of consumer and business marketing experience to Sokolove Law. He comes to the firm with a deep background in digital transformation, direct marketing and branding for some of the world's largest B2B and B2C marketers.

Anders has entrepreneurial roots, having been President of Berenson Isham and Partners (sold to Snyder Communications/Havas), and founder and CEO of Anyparty.com earlier in his career.

Anders has also helped global marketers become digital and direct powerhouses. From 2000 to 2004, he was Senior Vice President at Digitas, and worked with General Motors to make the transition from the traditional advertising and incentive based marketing model to a more data-driven customer-centric approach that enabled customers to navigate through the wide GM portfolio.

In 2004, Anders joined MRM Worldwide in New York as part of a turnaround team for the digital unit of McCann Worldgroup and holding company Interpublic. He served at MRM in the capacities of Managing Director of the Eastern Region and Chief Growth Officer, helping the company to post record growth and profitability, as well as a leadership role in aiding some of the world's most powerful brands to make the transition to the digital world. For MasterCard, he led the team that created priceless.com, which leverages user generated content to create more value for consumers, merchants and member banks. In 2005, Anders was asked to lead the integrated recruitment account for the US Army for McCann Worldgroup. Anders and his colleagues were able to reverse a recruitment slide for the Army by reenergizing its large and complex marketing effort.

 


Gabriel Miller

Gabriel Miller, General Counsel of Sokolove Law, oversees all legal activities involving the firm.

His legal oversight extends to national marketing and relationships with affiliate firms as well as day-to-day firm operations.

Gabe served as General Counsel in a variety of industries before joining Sokolove Law. He was General Counsel for Captivate Network, a media company reaching over 2 million viewers each day. Prior to that, he was General Counsel for Fleet Real Estate Capital, a multi-billion dollar commercial loan originator and servicer and Senior Vice President and Senior Counsel at Fleet Bank, responsible for real estate issues involving several thousand domestic and international facilities. Gabe started his career as a commercial litigator at Cohen & Wolf.

Gabe is a contributing author to Successful Partnering Between Inside and Outside Counsel published by Thomson West. He also writes a regular column for New England In-House Magazine and has trained thousands of lawyers and business development specialists in legal marketing, sales and service.

Gabe has a B.S. from the University of Connecticut Honors Scholars Program and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Eric Van Horne is the Chief Service Officer of Sokolove Law. He is responsible for all customer service, lead management and quality assurance activities for the firm. With his background as an operations and people management professional, Eric's mission is to assure the best possible experience for all clients and affiliates.

Before joining the firm, Eric was a Principal with the New Frontier Management Group where he advised public and private entities on customer service, business relocations and economic development projects. Prior to that, Eric spent 15 years in the airline industry where he was most recently Vice President, Customer Service for MLT Vacations, Inc., the Northwest Airlines WorldVacations Company. While at Northwest Airlines he was also Managing Director, Ground Operations Policy and Training, Director of Finance for the $700 millioni Detroit Midfield Terminal Project, and he held a number of operations and project management positions in the Passenger Reservations and Customer Service divisions. He served in line operations management at United Airlines prior to his years at Northwest.

Eric earned an MBA from the Yale School of Management, and a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
