A Louisiana locksmith has filed a class action against Swiss lock maker Kaba Ilco Corp. alleging that its push-button door locks fail to secure door because they can be opened using various magnets, according to the Louisiana Record.
The suit was filed in federal court in New Orleans on behalf of all locksmiths who purchased any of the defective locks. The class action comes in the wake of several consumer lawsuits alleging similar claims against Kaba and its related entities.
A potential class action lawsuit filed in Ohio on behalf of Orthodox Jews contains similar allegations. Orthodox Jews use the expensive locks to secure their homes due to religious restrictions related to the Jewish Sabbath.
