Recent studies have shown that taking more than the recommended dosage of Tylenol each day to relieve severe pain can accumulate over time and eventually lead to a deadly acetaminophen overdose.
The Huffington Post writes that taking slightly higher doses of Tylenol over time can eventually be even more dangerous than taking an entire bottle of Tylenol at once. Over time, the increased acetaminophen intake can lead to serious damage.
“Researchers found that people who had a ‘staggered overdose’ in acetaminophen were also the ones who were most likely to have brain or liver problems, need kidney dialysis and die from complications,” states the article.
Symptoms of a Tylenol or acetaminophen overdose include sweating, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.
