A West Virginia woman has filed a nursing home abuse lawsuit against a facility she claims is responsible for the death of her mother.
According to the West Virginia Record, Denise Stricklen alleges that her 78-year-old mother, Loretta Conner, fell on April 11, 2010 while she was at HR of Charleston, a nursing home that was doing business under the name of Oak Ridge Center Conner at the time.
Conner was taken to the Intensive Care Unit at Charleston Area Medical Center for five days before returning to Oak Ridge. She died on May 13, 2010 from a subdural hematoma, which was caused by the fall, according to the complaint.
The nursing home abuse lawsuit filed on December 7, 2011 claims that Oak Ridge did not adequately provide treatment to Conner and failed to respond to significant symptoms and signs of changes in her condition.
Stricklen also contends that the nursing home’s actions caused her mother extreme suffering, pain, embarrassment, mental anguish, terror, and death. She seeks punitive and compensatory damages.
