Six victims of the Costa Concordia shipwreck have filed personal injury lawsuits against the cruise line claiming negligence.
According to CBS News, the lawsuits have been filed in Miami U.S. federal court against Costa Cruise Lines and its parent company Carnival Corp. Radar Online reports that the suits have come amid anger and outrage at the company’s recent offer of $14,500 in damages to passengers who were uninjured.
The personal injury lawsuit said that the victims were “in terror of catastrophic injury, death, drowning, having been placed in a situation where common sense said the vessel was sinking but the orders from the crew were to return to their cabins,” reports Radar.
The death toll has now reached 17 and there are 15 people who remain missing. The victims seek $460 million dollars in damages.
