Johnson & Johnson has issued a recall for 2,200 tubes of
Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Lotion after a test by the Food and Drug Administration showed they contained a higher level of a certain bacteria than is allowed.
In a company news release, Johnson & Johnson said that the FDA test “indicated that the lot exceeded the specifications for common bacteria, though extensive testing by an independent laboratory afterward did not show that specifications were exceeded.”
According to
CNN, the bacteria found was identified to be
coagulase-negative Staphylococci, which is naturally occurring in the environment and are commonly used in household and cosmetic products at extremely low levels.
The lot number printed on the tubes is 0161LK and the products were distributed in Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Kansas, Texas and Tennessee, according to the company.
