Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have announced a recall of
York International’s Gas Furnaces amid worries they may overheat and lead to fires.
According to the
CPSC, the recall is in effect for the Coleman,Â
Coleman Evcon and
Red Gas Furnaces for Manufactured Homes. The furnaces can potentially overheat and cause the heat-exchanger to break and create holes that expose flames, causing a fire and smoke hazard to consumers.
There have been 393 reports of incidents involving property damage. The company has not received reports of any injuries.
There are about 2,400 units in Canada and 223,600 in the U.S that are affected by the recall. The furnaces were sold and manufactured between 1995 and 2000.
