A personal injury lawsuit has been filed by a 30-year-old Italian woman against Costa Crociere claiming the Costa Concordia ship accident caused her to have a miscarriage.
According to The Huffington Post, the woman (identified as Cristina M.) claimed that she was four months pregnant when she boarded the Costa Concordia. However, as a result of the ship accident that occurred, the “intense psychological stress suffered both during the night-time evacuation and when her lifeboat smashed up against rocks as it headed for the nearby shore" caused her to lose her unborn child.
She is seeking one million Euro (approximately $1.3 million) in damages.
This latest personal injury lawsuit is one of many that are being filed against the cruise line by passengers of the ship after it collided with a reef on January 13. Last month, Costa offered each passenger about $14,000 in compensation, which many are refusing and deciding to file class action lawsuits instead.
