Caregiver Burnout

What is Caregiver Burnout?

Caregiver burnout is an emotional state of duress that can occur in those who dedicate a large portion of their lives to aiding others. Caregiver burnout can leave those afflicted struggling to get through each day, exhausted, frustrated and even resentful of their child and other loved ones.

If you're feeling this way, you're not alone. Caregivers of children with disabilities have a round-the-clock job, and like people who care for sick or aging parents, grandparents and spouses, they are at risk for caregiver burnout.

So how can you interrupt the cycle of caregiver burnout? The answer lies in understanding the causes, recognizing the symptoms and finding resources to help you prevent or recover from burnout.
