Zimmer Recalls a Component of the Persona® Knee Implant

Sokolove Law is no longer accepting Zimmer Persona Knee cases.

Zimmer Inc. has recalled its Persona Trabecular Metal Tibial Plate, a component of the Persona Knee replacement system, due to an increase in complaints of the device loosening and radiolucent lines. If you or a loved one’s knee replacement implant was part of the recall and you are experiencing complications requiring revision surgery, you may be entitled to compensation.

Radiolucent lines, which can be seen on an x-ray, are potential indications that a device may not be seated properly, which could lead to device failure and the need for revision surgery. Loose implants can be very painful and may cause:

  • Bone loss/damage
  • Loss of mobility
  • Swelling
  • Tissue damage

According to the FDA, the Class 2 recall affects approximately 11,658 components which were distributed worldwide from November 29, 2012 through January 23, 2015.
