Miles for Meso Race both Informative and Enlightening (VIDEO)

In February we were lucky enough to participate in the 3rd annual South Florida Miles for Meso 8K Race & 2 Mile Walk in Boca Raton, FL this February. Check out our video where we got to speak with some of the brave and inspiring individuals who participated in the charity race.

The event, which is hosted by mesothelioma patient/advocate Larry Davis and sponsored by the Simmons Mesothelioma Foundation, aims to both raise awareness about the dangers of asbestos while also raising money for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.

Since his mesothelioma diagnosis five years ago, Davis has become a national advocate for the banning of asbestos as well as a supporter of numerous mesothelioma foundations. He told us that he felt Miles for Meso events were important because of their ability to spread awareness to people who otherwise would likely know little to nothing about asbestos and mesothelioma.

“So few people have an awareness that asbestos is a very dangerous carcinogenic,” he said. “We bring awareness to that fact.”

Since launching in 2009, there have been Miles for Meso events in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Virgina and Florida. They have raised a combined $160,000 in funding for mesothelioma research.

The Simmons Mesothelioma Foundation is a private, non-profit organization founded by the Simmons Law Firm, which is a partner of Sokolove Law.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma after years of asbestos exposure, call Sokolove Law today for a free legal consultation regarding a mesothelioma lawsuit.
