Today, thousands of our veterans are fighting a battle that they never imagined the one against mesothelioma and other serious diseases caused by asbestos exposure. Veterans are at significant risk for this cancer due to the past use of asbestos-containing products by the armed services.
For much of the 20th century, manufacturers used asbestos in products that were part of the construction of U.S. Navy vessels and military bases even though these companies knew that the material posed terrible health risks to anyone who inhaled it. In fact, approximately one-third of mesothelioma cases have been shown to involve Navy or shipyard exposures.
Starting July 20th, the Sokolove Law team will be on-site at the VFW National Convention in Louisville, KY, talking to veterans and spreading the word about the dangers of asbestos exposure, the symptoms of mesothelioma, and legal options.
Approximately 11,000 VFW and Ladies Auxiliary members are expected to attend the five-day, citywide national convention that runs from July 20-24. Events planned include a Health Fair, exhibits, the Gold Star Families Reception, Annual Memorial Service, committee meetings, and workshops.
Sokolove Law thanks veterans for their service and is committed to helping veterans who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma. We’ll be at Booth #114. If you’ll be at the convention, stop by the booth, meet our team, and pick up helpful resources to better educate yourself or distribute at your post.
