Lipitor® Linked to Risk of Diabetes in Women

Sokolove Law is no longer accepting Lipitor® cases.

Lipitor®, generically known as atorvastatin, has been linked to an increased risk of diabetes in women. In 2012, the FDA ordered the makers of Lipitor® to add language to their warning labels regarding an increased risk for diabetes. Several clinical trials and studies have indicated a link between the use of Lipitor and the development of Type 2 Diabetes in women with no previous family history of the disease.

Lipitor® is a medication used to help manage high cholesterol by blocking an enzyme in the liver, which the body uses to make cholesterol. Risk is higher depending on dosage, as well as for those with the classic diabetes risk factors, such as excess weight, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, or high triglycerides.
