Paradigm Insulin Pump
Insulin pumps are small, portable devices that deliver fast-acting insulin 24 hours a day, helping diabetics manage their blood-sugar. About the size of a small cell phone or MP3 player, insulin pumps deliver insulin through a small tube and cannula (known as the infusion set) placed under the skin. The amount of insulin delivered can be changed by each user to suit their specific needs.
Defective pumps or infusion sets can result in insulin dosage inaccuracies, which can lead to extreme high and low blood sugars in the diabetics who use the defective equipment. Serious impairment can follow, which can result in injuries and accidents, including while driving.
