What Is the Roblox Child Safety Lawsuit?

Roblox is an online gaming platform where users can build virtual worlds, play games, and chat with others. Millions of children under the age of 13 use this popular digital platform every day.

However, despite the game’s kid-friendly branding, Roblox may lack safety measures and allow predators to contact minors through online chats, which can lead to sexual abuse and assault in some cases.

Roblox lawsuits allege that the company:

  • Doesn’t require age verification, allowing users to appear younger or older than their actual age
  • Enables predators to exploit children through the game’s virtual currency system, with some reportedly offering “Robux” in exchange for explicit pictures
  • Previously used default settings that made it easy for adults to directly message minors
  • Markets Roblox as safe and family-friendly despite allowing young users to simulate sexual acts within the game
  • Supports integration with apps like Discord®, making it easier for predators to communicate with children outside of the game

In one case, a 13-year-old girl met a man through Roblox's chat feature. The two later continued talking on Discord, where he groomed her over time. The man eventually traveled to her home and sexually assaulted her.

At Sokolove Law, we’re committed to holding companies that put profits ahead of child safety accountable. If your child was harmed through Roblox or Discord, contact our team now to see if we may be able to fight for you.

Grooming on Roblox

Predators often use online platforms to gain a child’s trust, desensitize them to inappropriate behavior, and manipulate them into sharing explicit content or meeting in person. This pattern, known as grooming, is present in several Roblox lawsuits.

“If a predator wants to target younger kids and talk with them to build trust and start the grooming process, Roblox is an easy way to do that. Instead of going to the playground where everyone’s a kid, you go to Roblox.”
– Rob Kerbs, Founder of the Online Safety Company Kidas

While conversations may start on Roblox, they often move to other apps like Discord or Snapchat®, where fewer parental controls exist and chats are harder to monitor.

Parents are often unaware that these interactions are happening. Understanding how grooming on Roblox works is the first step in protecting children and holding negligent companies accountable.

Who Can File a Roblox Lawsuit in 2026?

In 2026, Roblox lawsuits have been filed by families whose children were targeted on Roblox or Discord. Civil sexual abuse lawsuits can provide compensation to survivors, push for stronger online protections, and hold companies accountable.

You may be able to file a Roblox lawsuit if your child was:

  • Groomed by an adult on the platform
  • Coerced into sending inappropriate photos or videos
  • Sexually assaulted or abused after meeting up with someone from the platform

Children exposed to inappropriate or harmful content on platforms like Roblox and Discord may show signs of emotional distress, including mood changes, increased secrecy, or withdrawal from loved ones.

Filing a Roblox or Discord lawsuit can help you seek justice for the harm your child endured and pursue compensation for the cost of therapy, counseling, and other long-term supports.

Roblox Lawsuit News and Updates (2025-2026)

Around 66% of all U.S. children between the ages of 9 and 12 were reported to have played Roblox, according to the BBC. In recent months, Roblox has faced a growing number of sexual assault lawsuits across the United States.

Families and state officials claim the platforms' safety shortcomings have allowed predators to target children, leading to serious harm.

Here are some of the latest Discord and Roblox lawsuit updates:

  • January 2026: The state of Iowa sued Roblox, alleging the platform was deceptively marketed as safe for children while failing to implement basic safeguards, leading to the facilitation of child sexual exploitation, grooming, and the distribution of child sexual abuse material.
  • December 2025: A judicial panel ordered nearly 80 Roblox sexual abuse lawsuits to be centralized in a California federal court for coordinated pretrial proceedings. A single judge will oversee the case and hold bellwether trials to help test the claims.
  • November 2025: After facing multiple lawsuits over child safety, Roblox announced new parent-linked accounts that let adults control their child's access to the chat feature, filter experiences by maturity level, and monitor interactions with strangers. However, countless young users have already been harmed — and families may be able to seek justice by filing a Roblox lawsuit.
  • October 2025: Two new lawsuits have been filed against Roblox, including one involving a 10-year-old girl who allegedly met up with someone from the game in person and was assaulted by multiple men. As cases continue to emerge, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has agreed to hear arguments in December on whether to consolidate the growing number of Roblox lawsuits.
  • September 2025: A proposed Roblox class action lawsuit in California accuses the company of putting profits over child safety and pushing families to spend money on “mitigation efforts” like private servers or account name changes. The suit also seeks refunds for families who deleted accounts to protect their kids but left behind unspent Robux.
  • August 2025: Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill sued Roblox, alleging the platform enables predators to “thrive, unite, hunt and victimize kids.”
  • July 2025: Sexual abuse lawsuits have been filed against Roblox in California, Florida, Georgia, and Texas, among other states.
  • June 2025: Roblox admitted that it had submitted 1,200 reports of potential child exploitation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the first half of 2025 alone.
  • May 2025: The FBI issued a warning to parents about an international predator network called “764” that uses gaming platforms like Roblox to target children.
  • April 2025: A 10-year-old from Taft, California was kidnapped by a 27-year-old man she met through Roblox and Discord, according to authorities.
  • February 2024: A proposed Roblox class action lawsuit filed in California alleges that the company's platform is built on "predatory behavior toward minors or exploiting children."
  • October 2022: In one of the first lawsuits filed against Roblox and Discord, the companies are accused of failing to protect a 10-year-old girl from adult men, leading to mental health struggles and multiple suicide attempts.

As 2026 progresses and more cases are filed, our team will continue to provide the latest Roblox lawsuit updates, so families understand where litigation stands and what their options may be.

Washington Family Files Roblox Grooming Lawsuit

In January 2026, a Snohomish County family filed a federal lawsuit against Roblox, alleging the gaming platform failed to prevent the grooming and sexual exploitation of their daughter when she was 12 years old.

An adult man contacted the girl through a Roblox game in 2023 while claiming to be her age, according to the Roblox grooming lawsuit. The predator allegedly forced the girl into sending explicit images and threatened her until she complied.

New Jersey Roblox Case Alleges Sexual Assault of 12-Year-Old Girl

A New Jersey man is facing criminal charges after authorities say he repeatedly sexually assaulted a child he met online.

Officials allege Alex Torres-Lopez met a 12-year-old girl through Snapchat and Roblox, then sexually assaulted her multiple times in Trenton during the fall of 2025 and coerced her into sending explicit images and videos.

Torres-Lopez has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, including offenses tied to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Ohio Roblox and Discord Lawsuit Alleges Sexual Exploitation

A Roblox and Discord lawsuit claims that lax safety measures on the platforms allowed a sexual predator to exploit a 13-year-old girl. The predator allegedly posed as a peer on Roblox before demanding explicit images through Discord.

Filed in December 2025, the complaint maintains that the platforms created an environment where predators could easily target and access minors. The exploitation reportedly caused the girl to suffer anxiety, depression, and self-harm.

“Had defendants implemented even the most basic system of age and identity verification, as well as effective parental controls, [the girl] would never have engaged with this predator and never been harmed.”

Arkansas Roblox Lawsuit Claims Sexual Abuse of Boy

An Arkansas Roblox lawsuit filed by a Lonoke County family accuses Roblox and Snap Inc. of failing to protect their son from sexual exploitation. The boy, now 14, was allegedly groomed on Roblox by an adult posing as a teen, who then moved communications to Snapchat.

Once off-platform, the predator is accused of coercing the child into sharing sexually explicit images. The lawsuit claims both companies enabled the abuse by failing to monitor activity, warn parents, or enforce safety protections.

Discord & Roblox Sued in Wrongful Death Case

In September 2025, a California woman filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Discord and Roblox after her 15-year-old son, who had autism and relied on Roblox to make friends, was sexually exploited by an adult and died by suicide.

When the boy was 12, he reportedly met another user on Roblox who pretended to be a child and had him disable parental controls. The other user, who was actually in his 30s, groomed the boy and coerced him into sharing sexually explicit images after their conversations moved to Discord.

If Discord and Roblox had implemented better screening methods, the boy may not have been exposed to this predator, according to the lawsuit.

Oklahoma Mother Files Roblox Lawsuit After 12-Year-Old Abused

In September 2025, a mother in Oklahoma sued Roblox in Oklahoma federal court, accusing the gaming company of allowing a predator to exploit her daughter when she was just 12.

The girl met a man in his 40s who posed as a 15-year-old player on the platform in 2020, according to court filings. Using Robux, Roblox’s in-game currency, he allegedly gained her trust before coercing her into sharing explicit images and videos.

The mother describes the child, now 17, as emotionally damaged by Roblox's “systemic failure to protect children.”

Roblox & Discord Lawsuit Claims Platforms Failed to Protect 11-Year-Old

A Discord and Roblox lawsuit filed in August 2025 accuses both platforms of enabling the sexual exploitation of an 11-year-old child by failing to implement adequate safety measures. The plaintiff claims she was abused in 2016 by a man who posed as a 14-year-old boy online.

He allegedly sent her sexually explicit photos, pressured her to do the same, and told her how to sneak out of her house and meet him at a motel. When she arrived, he sexually assaulted her, took photos, and used them to blackmail her, according to the complaint.

Lawsuit Against Roblox Alleges Exploitation of Teen Boy in Missouri

A Roblox lawsuit filed in August 2025 in Clay County, Missouri claims Roblox Corporation created “a breeding ground for predators” that led to the sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old boy.

According to the complaint, the teen was an avid Roblox player whose mother believed the platform was safe for children. The lawsuit alleges a predator, posing as a young girl, groomed the teen on Roblox and then moved their interactions off-platform.

Once the predator gained his trust, he allegedly coerced the boy into sending explicit photos by first sharing graphic messages and sexual images of young girls.

North Carolina Roblox Lawsuit Alleges Abuse of 10-Year-Old Girl

In August 2025, a Roblox lawsuit was filed in Guilford County, North Carolina on behalf of a mother and her 10-year-old daughter. The girl allegedly began using Roblox at age 6 before being targeted by an online predator 4 years later.

According to the filing, the predator used Robux to groom the girl and coerce her into sending explicit images of herself. The company is accused of allowing unsafe interactions and prioritizing growth over child safety.

The lawsuit also highlights Roblox’s moderation issues, pointing to simulated sex encounters and inappropriate games created within its platform, including titles such as “Survive Diddy.”

Texas Family Files Roblox & Discord Lawsuit After Assault of 13-Year-Old

In April 2025, a Galveston family filed a federal lawsuit alleging Roblox and Discord failed to safeguard their 13-year-old daughter, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a predator she met on the platforms.

The lawsuit claims the girl’s mother had enabled parental controls and limited chat features, yet the man was still able to contact her, groom her, and carry out the abuse. He is accused of entering the family’s home and recording the assault.

The experience left the teenager, described before the abuse as "vibrant," with lasting psychological scars that have impacted her daily life and caused her to live in constant fear.
