Beth's passion for helping children has even extended to working as a school nurse at her local elementary school.
"The callers I speak with are incredible advocates for their child. They are relentless in obtaining the best care possible for their child," she said. "While they may not know exactly what went wrong, they know something isn’t right — investigating and talking with them to get to the root of the issue is so rewarding for me."
Beth has two children of her own and draws on her personal experiences to connect with families navigating the difficulties of an early delivery or other traumatic birth events. Her son was born at only 29 weeks and spent an extensive amount of time in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit).
Having similar experiences allows her to establish a close connection with NICU moms.
"Families have questions when they call us about the care they received, and these are valid questions and should have been addressed better during their time in the hospital," Beth stated.
The March of Dimes selects families and children whose lives were saved by their research and programs and who have a passion to help other families bring healthier babies into the world. In 2018, Beth and her family were chosen as a March of Dimes Ambassador Family.
Together, they continue to serve as advocates for the health of new parents and babies.
"The nurses I work with are some of the most intelligent, empathetic women I know. We will actively listen and do everything we can to get families the justice they deserve."
