Marist University Senior Indicted for Filming in Campus Bathrooms

On May 10, 2025, someone using a restroom in the Dyson Center at Marist University found a small camera and reported it to campus security. Staff members contacted law enforcement, and an investigation was started.

In November 2025, Kyle Petrozzi, a 22-year-old senior at Marist University, was charged with 16 felony counts of unlawful surveillance by a Dutchess County Grand Jury.

Petrozzi was later expelled from Marist, and a judge released him under probation supervision and ordered him to turn over his passport.

“This defendant’s alleged actions represent a serious invasion of personal privacy. No one should ever have to worry that a space as private as a bathroom is being monitored."
– Anthony Parisi, District Attorney, Dutchess County, NY

While the criminal case against Petrozzi proceeds, survivors may be able to file a civil lawsuit against Marist University for failing to prevent this invasion of privacy on campus.

In March 2026, a Marist University lawsuit was filed against the university and Petrozzi by a woman identified in court papers as Jane Doe.

Filed in New York's Westchester County Supreme Court, the Marist University class action lawsuit accuses the school of negligent supervision and seeks compensation on behalf of those harmed.
